Task Force Chief Engineer Matthew Sanscrainte Hospitality Group (MSHG) Travel Required: Up to 80% ⸻ Position Overview Matthew Sanscrainte Hospitality Group (MSHG) is seeking an elite, solutions-driven, and operationally dominant Task Force Chief Engineer to lead engineering operations across distressed hotel assets nationwide. This is not a maintenance role—this is a rapid-response leadership position. You will be deployed into underperforming, mismanaged, or operationally compromised properties to stabilize, rebuild, and elevate engineering departments to brand and ownership standards. The ideal candidate is highly technical, fiercely accountable, and thrives in chaotic environments—bringing structure, compliance, and performance where others have failed. ⸻ Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Property Stabilization • Assume immediate leadership of engineering operations at distressed hotel and resort properties • Diagnose systemic failures across mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and structural systems • Implement corrective action plans to restore full operational functionality • Establish preventative maintenance programs aligned with brand standards (Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, Choice) • Lead engineering teams through restructuring, accountability enforcement, and performance improvement ⸻ Capital Projects & Renovation Oversight • Oversee Property Improvement Plans (PIPs), renovations, and capital expenditure (CapEx) projects • Coordinate with ownership groups, asset managers, and contractors to ensure timelines and budgets are met • Conduct site inspections, vendor evaluations, and project progress reporting • Ensure all upgrades meet brand compliance and safety regulations ⸻ Compliance, Safety & Risk Mitigation • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, local/state building codes, fire safety regulations, and brand requirements • Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response protocols • Maintain all engineering logs, certifications, and compliance documentation • Identify and eliminate liability risks across the property ⸻ Operational Execution • Respond to and resolve critical maintenance issues impacting guest experience and revenue • Partner with Housekeeping and Front Office to ensure room readiness and minimize out-of-order inventory • Drive energy management initiatives and cost-saving efficiencies • Implement inventory control systems for tools, parts, and supplies ⸻ Task Force Deployment (80% Travel) • Travel nationwide to support MSHG client properties in crisis or transition • Execute rapid-entry assessments within 24–72 hours of deployment • Provide detailed engineering audits, reports, and turnaround strategies • Remain on-site until operational stability and performance benchmarks are achieved

Requirements

Qualifications • Minimum 5–10+ years of hotel engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Chief Engineer or above) • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical systems, and life safety systems • Proven experience with hotel renovations, PIPs, and CapEx project management • Strong understanding of major hotel brand standards and compliance requirements • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time without restriction • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to operate under pressure • Strong leadership presence with the ability to rebuild and motivate teams quickly • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and reporting tools ⸻ What Sets This Role Apart This role is for operators—not spectators.
